Redpath Mining | Canada

In 1962, today’s global Redpath Mining group started out as a small workshop in Noranda, Quebec; where 26 year-old Jim Redpath launched the J.S. Redpath Mining Contracting Company.

In 1965, the company took a giant leap forward with the sinking of Creighton # 9 shaft for INCO Ltd. near Sudbury, Ontario. This secured Redpath Mining a world record for the deepest single-lift shaft in North America and a rapidly growing reputation as a premier shaft sinker.

In 1967, the company moved operations to North Bay, Ontario, taking advantage of its central proximity to Canada’s mining industry. With the successful completion of Brunswick #12 shaft in Eastern Canada and the Dome #8 shaft in North Eastern Ontario, by 1984, Redpath Mining had markedly grown in name, size and capability.

In addition to shaft sinking, the Redpath name has become synonymous with the Arctic Region; having completed highly demanding projects at Polaris, Nanisivik, Lupin, Raglan in the Canadian Arctic and Black Angel in Greenland.

Countless milestones accomplished in its early years enabled the company to establish a worldwide presence today. It is this global strength, experience and expertise that continue to lure both clients and employees to Redpath Mining.
